Birdsall Market - Farm Fresh Food Delivered by RIDE!

FAQ

What's Birdsall Market all about?

Check out our About page for the who, what, when, where, and why!

Can I order individual items? All I see are boxes.

We are only offering boxes to streamline the service. In the days ahead we will share our partners page where you can buy individual items.

Why is there a delivery fee?

The delivery fee is to help pay our employees that deliver your food. One of the secondary reasons for the market is to get as many people as possible back to work and receive a paycheck.

I'm a senior, do you offer senior discounts?

At this time no. We have tried to keep the prices as low as possible for everyone.

Do you take food assistance benefits like WIC, SNAP, etc?

Not at this time but we are looking into it.

How do your prices compare to my local supermarket, they seem more expensive?

We've made every effort to keep our prices as low as possible, but understandably as a small local "pop-up" operation formed in response to the COVD-19 crisis, we don't have the bargaining power with suppliers that the regional and national grocery chains do, so their prices may be lower in some cases.

Customers can vist this page to see how the pricing of our boxes compares to the local supermarkets that are still operating. Due to variations in supply and stock, the comparisons are not always "apples to apples" but we hope they help our customers understand their options.

Please also consider the cost of transportation and service fees when comparing prices.

It looks like some of your prices have increased, what gives?

The Birdsall Market is a work in progress, and as we operate we learn what is needed to cover our overhead, pay our employees and leave enough left over for us to keep it going. Therefore, we may adjust our prices as needed to keep the Market sustainable. Please refer to our price comparisons page to see how our prices stack up against the local supermarkets.

I can't afford your food, what options do I have?

The City of Peekskill has complied a document of COVID-19 resources that includes a list of organizations proving food for those in need and a calendar of distribution dates.

These include CHHOP/Fred's PantryCity of Peekskill Mobile PantrySalvation ArmyCommunity Action Partners of PeekskillCity of Peekskill Senior Nutrition ProgramManzer's LandscapingPeekskill Rotary ClubPeekskill School District Grab and Go, and Million Gallons.

There are also supermarkets outside of the downtown area that are still open and able to take food assistance benefits. These include: Stop & ShopShoprite, and ACME.

What payment methods do you take, if I don't have a credit or debit card?

For other forms of payment please email us and we can try to work something out. Cash is always accepted.

Do you take Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc?

At the moment our system does not accept these forms of payment. We're looking into way to implement, but for now you'll need to enter your credit card information at check out.

How do I tip the driver/delivery person?

If you are asking this question, God Bless you. We offer the option to tip when you add the Delivery Item to your cart. Simply choose the amount of tip you'd like to add before adding it to your cart. You can also tip in cash, but please wear a mask and wash your hands so that our delivery people stay safe.

Do you send out a text as a time reminder for pick up/delivery?

We will send a reminder email to the address entered at check out when pick up and delivery hours begin. We are looking into implementing a text message reminder.

This will be handled on a case by case. Please email us with all post-order requests.

My burgers came frozen, how do I defrost?

We freeze our high quality burgers (same as we use in-house) for your protection.

To defrost, run the wrapped package under cold water for 20 minutes, or leave in the fridge for a few hours. Once defrosted you can reshape the burgers thicker or thinner to your preference.

If you have already tried to pry apart the burgers before defrosting, please re-wrap in cellophane and run under cold water.

In case you were concerned, freezing does not in any way degrade the quality of the meat. As of right now we are not investing in grocery style packaging to keep price low as low as possible

Food is not refundable once delivered.  Email us using our contact form if there is a problem and we will consider each case individually.
